Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller 'James Cameron' Ref: 116660 2015
The D-blue dial was Rolex's tribute to James Cameron's 2012 solo descent of the Mariana Trench — a gradient that falls from ocean blue to black the way light disappears with depth. On the reference 116660 Deepsea it sits behind a 5.5 mm domed sapphire, inside the Ringlock system engineered for 3,900 metres. The bright green DEEPSEA line across the dial belongs to this configuration alone. A 2015 example of the original James Cameron reference, authenticated by our horologists and accompanied by its full set. As with everything in our sold archive, this listing records a watch that has passed through our hands; if you are hunting a D-blue of your own, our sourcing desk can be set to the task.
