Parmigiani Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Arctic Grey PFC931 2025

Reference PFC931-1020003-400182 is the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph, silver dial with arctic grey counters, and it is the Tonda PF that stopped apologising for being a sports watch.

The detail that gives it away is the bezel. A standard Tonda PF bezel carries 225 knurled notches, fine enough that the ring reads as a texture; this one has 160. Coarser notches catch light in fewer, broader flashes, and that single change does more to alter the character of the watch than the pushers do. It is the kind of decision that only makes sense if someone sat with both in front of them.

The dial is hand-guilloché in the Clou de Trianguléur pattern, silver against arctic grey registers, with 18 ct gold indices finished in rhodium and black Super-LumiNova. Rubber rather than a bracelet, which on a 42 mm chronograph is the difference between a watch you wear on a Saturday and one you leave in the box.

Calibre PF070-COSC, self-winding, 315 parts and 42 jewels, beating at 5 Hz — 36,000 vibrations an hour, which is fast and buys you eighth-of-a-second resolution on the chronograph. Sixty-five hours of power reserve, waterproof to 100 metres, 42 mm across and 12.9 mm deep under a sapphire back.
